Review. Women Without a State - Feminicides in Mexico
On Wednesday 30th of October Otherwise hosted an event about feminicides in Mexico to raise awareness on violence towards women. Dr. Charlynne Curiel, former WUR PhD student, talked about these issues and other current events in Mexico. She focused on the link between structural violence and the emergence of the pink glitter feminist movement who is protesting against the idea of Mexico being a country of “women without a State”. Gerard Verschoor (WUR) moderated the event.
After the talk of dr. Charlynne Curiel, there was space to talk and discuss these issues with her and with the audience. It was a very tough topic, but at the same time it was important to speak out loud about it and raise awareness of such a crisis.
