NL Doet - Little Free Library
NL Doet is the biggest volunteer day in the Netherlands. Everybody is welcome to volunteer for a social initiative. OtherWise is looking for volunteers to help paint and/or build Little Free Libraries. These libraries will be placed throughout Wageningen to enable the sharing of books and knowledge!
Little libraries are a worldwide movement to offer free books to members of the local community. The books are housed in small containers and are compared to human bird feeders, since reading nourishes the mind and soul.
January of 2015, the total number of registered little free libraries in the world was conservatively estimated to be nearly 25,000. By January of 2016, the total number reached over 36,000. In June of 2016, there are over 40,000 Libraries worldwide. But what about Wageningen? Well, there are only 2 registered little free libraries! Time to take action, and build one yourself.
