Following the Film screening in March, a number of panelists will take part in a Global Youth Conference for the Rights of Nature. On April 24th, we would like to invite you to join the ‘Who Speaks For Nature’ conference which will include a number of workshops on on Environmental and Social Justice issues which are closely linked to the struggle of Rights of Nature worldwide.
The Rights of Nature movement is dismantling our biggest obstacle to change by shifting power to communities, to those directly connected to the land, and by giving a voice to Nature. It provides a template for recognizing legal rights for Nature as a living entity that can be enacted at the local, national, tribal and international levels. It requires us to restore our connection with Nature and each other. The Rights of Nature movement borrows from indigenous and traditional cultures to address ecological and social crises, such as global warming and racism. Recognizing the rights of Nature means recognizing the right of all living beings. Living in harmony with a living planet requires that we also live in harmony with each other.
Representing OtherWise, Anastasia will be joined by Evelien Konings on the topic of creating Human Nature connections. Evelien has been leading workshops on Inner Sustainability for OtherWise in the past year and will contribute in the workshop with her expertise on deep connections to ones sorrounding and inner self. A second Workshop, led by Anastasia, will focus on the topic of suing governments over their inactions to fight climate change and environmental destrucion, on behalf of future generations. The event is free of charge.
This event takes place in the Lustrum week of OtherWise. Find more information and the full programme here: www.otherwisewageningen.org
