Social entrepreneurship is a growing global movement that combines the innovativeness of traditional entrepreneurs with a mission to change and improve society through bottom-up collective action and dynamics. By uniting economic thinking and the desire to generate social wealth it provides sustainable solutions for both society and business enterprises.
In this event we will meet social enterprises that will introduce their projects and that will explain the process that they carried out to arrive to their current situation. Also, there will be start-ups incubators that will explain how do they assist the entrepreneurs during the development of their projects. After the event, there will be space for drinks so you will be able to share your thoughts with the speakers and with the rest of the attendants.
Come and get inspired with new ideas of how to change the world towards a more sustainable and socially equal place!

The enterprises that will participate in this event are De Nijmeegse Stadsnomaden, Versfabriek and De Voedseltuin Overvecht.
De Nijmeegse Stadsnomaden is a bottom-up initiative, originated from a group of young people who wanted to live and work together in a creative and sustainable way. Not only with the residents, but also with the neighborhood and the rest of the city. Based on this philosophy, they organize activities, they promote lectures done by university teachers and they also offer workshops on sustainable living.
Versfabriek collects coffee grounds at healthcare institutions and local catering establishments from Nijmegen. The coffee grounds form the basis for the growing substrate on which oyster mushrooms are grown in special growth containers. The fungi find their way back to the city and end up on the menu of cafes, restaurants and care institutions. After use, the coffee grounds are processed into biogas and compost. And that completes the circle.
De Voedseltuin Overvecht is a collective of local residents, entrepreneurs, volunteers and social organizations that work towards the concept of a local, sustainable food chain in the neighborhood. They sell the vegetables grown in the garden to restaurants and cooking groups in the neighborhood and in their own neighborhood country shop.
There will also be Starters4Communities, an organization that helps entrepreneurs to strength their start-ups and their role as change-makers.
