Internship opportunity Habitat for Humanity - Asia Pacific Office

The Asia Pacific Office of Habitat for Humanity International in Makati City (Philippines) is looking for interns!

The intern will have opportunities of and exposure to research work and engagement with field people including possible field work.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Conduct consultations with selected HFH National Offices (NOs) in defining / refining Research topics and objectives and develop TORs
  2. Conduct a Research work for selected topic guided by agreed TOR in coordination with NOs and AP staff and finalize according to inputs from selected AP and NO audience. Data collection options can be (but not limited to) literature reviews and remote interviews with project stakeholders. Example of topics (not exhaustive) are:
  • Cluster (Multi-stakeholder) Approach to Housing in Indonesia
  • HFHI Pacific Task Force: Opportunities for influencing Housing initiatives in the Pacific (Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu)
  • Lessons from Community-Based Disaster Response Management in Vietnam
  • Revisiting Project Gains and Pains from Access to Water initiatives in the Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh
  • Mid-Term Review of Build Nepal Post-Earthquake Initiative
  • Housing Microfinance Initiative Cambodia
  • Sensitize to Sanitize Multi-NGO Coalition Initiative in India
  • MicroBuild (Housing Microfinance Initiative in India
  • Habitat Young Leaders Build Initiatives Across Asia Pacific

Expected deliverables:

  1. Updated list of research/study topics per National Office according to agreed template
  2. For the topics mentioned above, develop Terms of Research (TORs) in consultation with relevant staff
  3. For the selected topic, develop a full TOR in consultation with staff for research study, including detailed description of methods and tools
  4. Draft report presented for comments and feedback
  5. Final Research Report accepted by HFHI Representative.

Housing, housing construction, project design and management, project monitoring and evaluation. Impact studies, evidence-based research, housing microfinance, community development approach, awareness raising and advocacy

Required Skills

Research conceptualization and execution. Able to define and execute options for research methods and tools on selected research topics. Familiarity and/or exposure to project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, theory of Change approach or logical framework approach.
