OtherWise and Boerengroep invite you to a cosy cinema evening during which we will explore with you the transformative potential of reimagining how consumers and producers can relate with one another.
We let ourselves be inspired by two special documentary screenings (with English subtitles), to have a lively discussion afterwards supported by related guest speakers.
I. The first documentary we will screen, is called "Wij oogsten hier geluk" or "Harvesting Happiness" (duration: 35 min), a very recent production done by future farmer and Warmonderhof-student Jildou Friso.
“Harvesting Happiness” is a documentary about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in The Netherlands. Six CSA farmers are portrayed on their passions and ideals, the connection with their members, the struggle for land, their doubts and setbacks, and dreams about the future.
The première night of Harvesting Happiness in Movie-W in October (sponsored by Boerengroep) was a great success and sold out in no time. A good indicator that more people should get a chance to watch her work!

II. The second screening is another recent production, "Back to Basics" (duration: 20 min), made by two HBO students, Christa Hiddinga & Fleur Born, as part of their journalism track (and has been sponsored by Otherwise).
“Back to Basics” tells the story of the successful Herenboeren initiative in Boxtel, where a dedicated grou...p of citizens embraced the idea that it should be possible to collectively own a farm and hire a farmer to produce their food. They themselves decide about what and how their food should be produced. In their search for gaining control over knowing where your food comes from, this collective took their strategy to a whole new level, that has proven to be a revolutionary concept within the Netherlands.
