To our regret we have decided that the activities of next week cannot continue due to the Corona virus outbreak. We were looking forward to celebrate the lustrum week of OtherWise together, but with the situation now, this would not be ethically responsible. We hope to postpone these activities and to celebrate the lustrum another time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How can we (re)connect to nature and to ourselves? And why is this important? This event is a part of the 20 year lustrum celebrational week 'Imagine OtherWise', and during the event you will be invited to reinmagine your relationship with nature and the environmental crisis. For this we will draw inspiration from Joanna Macy's (in picture) 'Work that Reconnects' and practice the methods she developed. The work that reconnects is about dealing with pain and beauty of life on this planet in times of urgency.

In impulse, we will screen the documentary of Joanna Macy's on 'The Work that Reconnects'. When we look at our environmental crisis it is likely that we will experience negative emotions such as despair, anger and sadness. How do we deal with these emotions? The documentary will illustrate how important it is to truly feel these emotions and to allow for grieving. Only then can these emotions can truly inform us and be the inspiration for us to create a desired change in the world. After the screening we will invite the audience to take part in several inner sustainability practices that will allow for a more embodied sense of what it means to (re)connect. Read more about Joanna Macy here: https://www.joannamacy.net/main

We will end the evening with the kickoff of the iWEEK! The iWEEK is our interactive summer school that is a full-week experience to explore inner sustainability and leadership in the context of major societal and environmental challenges of our time.

Be welcome to connect with us at Impulse!

What is Inner Sustainability?

Sustainability is oftentimes discussed within the realm of technological solutions, policy measures or innovations. This could be called the 'outside' of sustainability. However there is also a growing awareness that at the base we are intricately connected to all life. This could be called the 'inside' of sustainability. When the awareness of this interconnectedness is not experienced, this can give feelings of isolation, disconnectedness and a loss of respect for other lives, including natural environment. As long as other

people and other life forms are recognised as part of a whole that we all belong to, it becomes very difficult to do harm to another being. When this connectedness is experienced consciously, decisions are made differently than when we presume to be on our own. This embodied sense of sustainability and interconnectedness is what we call 'Inner Sustainability'.
