To our regret we have decided that the activities of next week cannot continue due to the Corona virus outbreak. We were looking forward to celebrate the lustrum week of OtherWise together, but with the situation now, this would not be ethically responsible. We hope to postpone these activities and to celebrate the lustrum another time.

How can we imagine diversity and gender otherwise? What would this look like? And, how can we use our own imagination for this?
As an openings event of OtherWise's 20 year lustrumweek 'Imagine Otherwise', we organise an engaging afternoon on diversity and gender at The Spot. We invited a variety of speakers that will open up a conversation on/about diversity in our society and at the university. Moreover, the importance of a critical sound by artists, activists, students, and grassroots organizations - such as OtherWise - will be highlighted.

In OtherWise we understand that diversity is of great importance in all our personal lives. For years different social movements and beings that are concerned with diversity and gender, such as decolonialist, anti-racists, and LGBTQA+, are (re)claiming a position in society and reframing dominant narratives. As OtherWise, we understand that dealing with diversity and gender strategies is not simply about 'ticking boxes'. Instead, structural changes and new imaging is needed to create a world that is more socially and environmentally just.

This afternoon will be started with an openings speech by
WUR rector magnificus Artur Mol. Then we will have two speakers, including the artist and activist Julius Thissen. This event will close with a panel discussion including WUR projectleader diversity & inclusivity Heather ten Ham, S&I chairperson and student Yichun Zhou, and the two speakers.

We will end this openings event with drinks at The Spot.

About the speakers:
