Our team

OtherWise consisists of a team of coordinators, the foundation board and a group of volunteers.

Hi there! I am Mesh (they/he), one of the new coordinators of OtherWise in 2021! I am truly honoured and excited to be offered this opportunity to run the show that is critical educational space that OtherWise embodies. I come from Sikkim in the Northeast of India where queer individuals like me can only dream of affiliating oneself with such an inclusive space which is why this opportunity means everything to me. I am so grateful to have connected with diverse people in the Netherlands since two years ago throughout my education in WUR and now I feel like this is another great milestone for me to forge more deeper relationships of care, love and abundance! I am certain OtherWise is going to be a fulfilling space for all and I, along with my colleague Cristina, are now here to make sure that is true for ALL.
Hello! My name is Cristina and I am excited to join the OtherWise team as coordinator in 2021. This position follows a topsy turvy two years spent pursuing the master of Organic Agriculture. During my studies at the WUR, I have met some of the most energetic and inspiring people of my life: warriors safeguarding the soils, gender non-conforming legends, and poetic bakers of the softest nature. These encounters and constant exploration of my surroundings have led me to this shapeshifting, unfurling platform designed to connect with daring and curious beings. I welcome the whirlwind of the coming year and hope to get swept up in it with you!

My name is Mila, I am a master student of environment and society studies at Radboud University Nijmegen. Currently I am working on my thesis about the consideration of intersectionality and climate justice in the European Green Deal climate governance. In the coming months I will be helping out Otherwise in their daily tasks and organize an interactive exhibition revolving around my thesis findings. For the last couple of years, I have been working on different projects concerning human rights, intersectional feminism and the environment which is why I find the work at Otherwise very interesting and inspiring. My hope for the future is to find more diverse ways to work together and to share different perspectives with others to bring us all closer together. I am looking forward to work and learn with/from you.

Hi! My name is Evelien and I am working on graduating in ecology as well as geo-information science. I am fascinated by the many ways in which people can relate to nature and have loved studying many types of ecological and botanical knowledge, but am most interested in how we are interconnected at the core. Or, in many cases, how we have become disconnected. I believe it’s time for a drastic reevaluation of our relationship to nature. I’m very happy Otherwise has given me the opportunity to dive into this further! I hope to bring in some of my own ideas to help with their work on building community and inner sustainability - to reconnect with ourselves and everything around us especially when these times have left us more isolated. And I hope we get the chance to meet!

Hey! I’m Luuk Slegers, I’m currently doing my internship with otherwise as part of my masters in Sociology of International Development. I’m a bit of a communist, and a bit of an anarchist, and a bit of a feminist, a bit of many things. Sometimes I am ‘realistic’, but then I get bored with it. With otherwise I feel we get the opportunity to playfully question the way things work, together. We are seriously playfully dedicated to explore the outside the box, putting any combination of avant-garde thoughts and methods together to eclectically explore the otherwise. Hope to see you here soon!

Hey! My name is Anastasia, I am 24 years old and study Environmental Sciences BSc in my second year at the WUR. I joined Otherwise half a year ago  as a flex-member after I stumbled across them in a lecture series at the university which they held. I was delighted to find people that like me, are not only interested in the natural sciences of things but also in the social and societal  aspects that go hand in hand with them. I am highly interested in philosphical approaches that question modern and scientific standards and rules, and have found a wonderful circle of people to share new ideas with while enjoying some nice ethical food and drink. Being able to talk about things that would be considered unconventional in many professional evironments like the ususal scheduled university setting, is helping me establish a critical point of view and will help me in my future career.
Hi! My name is Margherita Marinelli and I am currently doing my master in environmental policy and economics at Wageningen University. I started being a board member of OtherWise on February 2019. I joined this organisation because, being mainly interested and having a background in social sciences, I was looking for a group with which having the opportunity of discussing about modern day issues such as racism, sexism, inequalities and climate change through a critical approach. My main interests consists in questioning the political and economic system in which we live in in order to achieve a better quality of life for both the human and not-human inhabitants of this world.
