King's Day games at nursinghome De Nudehof

Together with nursing home De Nudehof we organised a joint activity to bring the elderly into contact with university students. De Nudehof had planned and organised a game afternoon for the elderly with several traditional Dutch games, like noughts and crosses, and throwing chunks of cheese into wooden shoes from a distance. The occasion was King’s Day: hence the traditional Dutch games.

The students were there to help coordinate the games, and chitchat with the residents. Thanks to the students, the elderly had a lovely afternoon. They really enjoyed having young people around to chat with over coffee and cake.

We can safely call this event a success! Our next collaboration with De Nudehof will take place on Saturday the 17th of June: that afternoon we will make a nice summer walk to the Dijk with students and residents in wheelchairs. At the Dijk we will enjoy home-made apple pie and the nice view there. Save the date!
