El Boton de Nácar
On July the 6th we will have our 3rd session of Stories. The Urge to Tell. As we did before we will again screen a movie that will explore the pain of colonial legacies, collective memory and the place of the human species in the cosmos.
Patricio Guzmán is a master storyteller that is walking a path of his own making movies of a poetic depth you are not likely to see anywhere else.
The movie 'El Boton de Nácar' is a true masterpiece where the rugged landscapes of West Patagonia, or the south of Chile are linked to it's indigenous population and their relationship to the ice cold water and the unbelievably clear starry nights and their ultimate demise in their encounter with Spanish missionairies with colonialist aspirations. The recent history of Chile under the regime of the fascist Pinonchet will not be left untouched either.
This movie will leave you in awe, will make you want to live among the stars and who knows what else!
